Who Says Giraffes Can’t Dance?!?!
3rd graders used the book “Giraffes Can’t Dance” written by Giles AndreaeeGiles Andreae (Author)› Visit Amazon's Giles Andreae Page

Are you an author? Learn abouand illustrated by Guy Parker-Rees as inspiration for their dancing giraffe project.  Students practiced different painting techniques in the sky and on the ground in the background of their project.  They then learned how things can be drawn by looking for shapes in them.  3rd graders then drew their own giraffe connecting shapes together making sure their giraffe was dancing.
Each giraffe has their own dance‼‼‼

2nd Grade Warhol Printmaking

Pop Art Hand Printing

Students in 2nd grade learned about the famous Pop Artist Andy Warhol.  Warhol was famous for his bright colored paintings and prints of the same object over and over.  2nd graders used their hands as inspiration for this project.  First they traced their hands and then used bright colors to carefully paint them.  Next the students learned about the art form of printmaking and used their fingers to do finger prints and their hands to do hand prints. By repeating their hand in their work they created works of art in the style of Andy Warhol.

Kinder Architects

Kindergarten Architects

In Art class Kindergarteners learned about Architecture.  During class they looked at lots of pictures of houses and buildings and looked to find what the different parts of architecture are.  They found that the different parts buildings look like shapes. They found that many houses are shaped like rectangles and squares and have roofs that are semi-circles and triangles.  They also noticed that buildings have windows which are shaped like are squares, rectangles and semi-circles.  We also looked for other parts of buildings like steps, decks, chimneys, domes, door knobs, and other details too.  Students then created their own building by collaging different shapes together to create houses.  They had to make sure the pieces were cut to the right size to fit on their houses and that the parts were in the correct places on their houses.

Great Job Kindergarten Architects!!!!
