In this project 4th
graders learned about the artist Georgia O’Keeffe. O’Keeffe is a famous
artist who was from Wisconsin. She grew
up in Wisconsin and then lived in New York and New Mexico when she became
famous. She is most famous for her large
paintings and chalk drawings of Flowers and Skulls. She enlarges
(makes it big), crops (zooms in and goes off the paper) and abstracts
(makes it look different than in real life).
Students in 4th grade studied a real cattle skull and drew a
detailed pencil drawing of the skull. They
then used southwest designs to create a drawing of a weaving behind their
skull.

ReplyDeleteIn your description, you might want to fix up (makes IT look different THAN in real life)
ReplyDeleteGreat lesson and examples!
Love this lesson. What visuals did you use for your painted weavings? Was the skull hung for your students to draw, and did you help them get started with the shape and shading? Or were they purely observational drawings.
