5th Grade Andy Warhol Inspired Selfies

Andy Warhol Pop ArtSelfies

Students in 5th grade learned about the Art style of Pop Art and famous Pop Artist Andy Warhol from the 1960’s.  Pop Art is short for Popular Art.  The main images in Pop Art are things or people that are popular or well known.  Andy Warhol was a pop artist who was famous for his silk screen prints of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and Campbell soup cans. He made images of popular things being repeated over and over.
5th graders used his idea as inspiration and created Selfie Self-Portraits. Students took photographs of themselves on their ipads and then used a computer program called Pop Art Poster found on the website http://bighugelabs.com/  to give their photos the Pop Art effect Andy Warhol was famous for.
