Mardi Gras Masks
Mardi Gras is a festival
celebrated in New Orleans during the month of February. During this festival masks are an important
part of the costumes that people wear.
Students in 4th grade learned about the Mardi Gras Festival
in New Orleans and other festivals around the world that use masks as in
important part of celebrations. Students
created the masks using a plastic form, tissue paper and papier-mâché. They then used warm and cool color schemes,
patterns and symmetrical designs
to decorate their masks.
