5th Grade Pop Art Portraits

Students in 4th grade learned about the Art style of Pop Art and famous Pop Artist Andy Warhol.  Pop Art is short for Popular Art.  The main images in Pop Art are things or people that are popular or well known.  Andy Warhol was a pop artist who was famous for his prints of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and Campbell soup cans. He made images of popular things being repeated over and over.  4th graders used this idea and created Self-Portraits. Students took photographs and then used a computer program BighugeLabs.com to rotate, crop, resize and change the color of their photos to give them the Pop Art effect Andy Warhol was famous for. 5th Graders then used magazines to cut and collage words that described them around their art.
